Engaging our Culture Compassionately
Hello, my name is Erin Levy-Hill and I’ve lived in Middletown, NY for the last 15 years with my husband (of 15 years) Michael and my 4 children (ages 20, 18, 6 and 4). My husband and I run a small residential construction company, Noble Hill Contracting Inc. and we attend and serve at Calvary Chapel Orange County in Goshen NY.
I grew up in a Christian home with my sister and two amazing parents who lived their life in grace steadily, compassionately, and with transparency. At a very young age, I desired to have a relationship with the God I knew loved me more than anyone. With tears of joy I asked Jesus to live in my heart at the age of 4. All throughout my teen years I had a heart for people and I wanted them to share the same peace and joy I knew by knowing personally a God who loved them, yet I felt that my testimony was so limited in reaching people. Little did I know God wanted to show me a deeper love than I could fathom as the trials of my life started to unfold. These trials began with the death of my father, just after my 19th birthday.
From childhood into adulthood my passion has been to praise and worship the Lord with my voice. My senior year of High School I learned the basics of acoustic guitar which gave me the ability to play simple praise songs. In college; I was asked to join the worship team at my church, at the time, the North Jersey Vineyard. At each church that I have been blessed to be a part of, the Lord would have me serve, in some way, with the praise and worship team. That is the ministry in which my husband and I currently serve, leading and organizing the praise and worship at our church. While I still feel somewhat inadequate to lead, that is where God keeps placing me, so, I lean on Him every step of the way.
My second area of ministry has been my children and teaching them at home. Again an area I do not always feel equipped; however, where the Lord leads you is not because of your ability, He wants your obedience, then, His ability takes over. My husband and I are also very involved in the Tres Dias community, a “para church” movement which encourages the believer in his/her Christian walk. I am also a part of Moms Be Free, a support group that I will talk more about later.
So as I spoke of earlier, the trials of my life are the areas where I have been able to grow so much in my understanding of God’s deep deep love for me. These trials or storms that I have faced have come is waves of grief including deep sorrow, abandonment, anger, loneliness, fear, and anxiety. However, through it all I was unmoved in the hope that God would come to rescue because that is what He said He would do in His word.
I look forward to sharing more of my story with you as we grow in one voice together. My heart and the mission to which the Lord has moved me is to care for those who have been faced with the shock of a spouse, child, family member, or dear friend who has expressed their new sexual identity or orientation as that which was not assigned to them at birth. I also desire to help the Church walk in compassion to meet the need of any one who has hidden feelings or is living two lives in fear of talking about their struggles which they may feel are too dirty in the church. There is no area that is too dark for the light of Jesus to bring healing into. We are here, in one voice, to love you and walk with you in the truth and the power of the love of Jesus who comes to rescue, heal and set free all who are hurting, “broken”, lost, lonely, and abused. I look forward to the opportunity to get to know, worship, pray and walk with you in one voice.
